Our Mission

At CenterStage, our mission is to inspire and uplift the next generation of performers through exceptional performance training. We provide a fun, encouraging environment where young artists build confidence, develop real-world skills, and grow as both performers and individuals.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a vibrant, lasting program that empowers every student to find their voice, tell their story, and take center stage—on Broadway, in life, and everywhere in between.

History of
CenterStage

In 2005, St. George Musical Theatre renovated the historic Woodward School building and in addition to producing a full season of shows on their unique theatre-in-the-round, began offering youth classes designed to spark creativity and train young performers in singing, dancing and acting. They called it “CenterStage”. Three years later, the curtain unexpectedly closed when SGMT lost its space in 2008. But the story didn’t end there. With resilience and community support, SGMT made a triumphant return in 2014 to its beloved home at the St. George Opera House.

Now, nearly two decades later, CenterStage is making its long-awaited comeback. But this time, it’s bolder, bigger, and built to last—with a dedicated facility at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) and a direct connection to SGMT’s new $19 million state-of-the-art mainstage theatre. We’re not just reviving a program—we’re building a pathway. A place where young artists can develop their skills, find their voice and step boldly into the spotlight – in every aspect of their lives.

A Note
from the Director

I found musical theatre when I was just a kid—and to be honest, I don’t know who I’d be without it. The stage became my safe space, my creative outlet, and my teacher. Through every rehearsal, every missed line, and every standing ovation, I was learning far more than just how to sing or dance—I was learning how to be confident, how to collaborate, how to persevere, how to lead, and how to be myself.

Those lessons never left me. Even now, as an adult, I draw on the tools theatre gave me: presence, empathy, resilience, and the joy of creating something meaningful with others. That’s the kind of magic I want every child to experience.

My love for kids and my love for theatre are at the heart of CenterStage. I believe musical theatre is a powerful, joyful way for young people to find their voice—both literally and figuratively. It builds character, friendships, and memories that last a lifetime. It teaches kids that their story matters, their voice matters, and that working together can create something truly extraordinary.

CenterStage isn’t just a program—it’s a dream I’ve carried for years. I’m so excited to bring it to life with the incredible team at St. George Musical Theater, and even more excited to watch it grow into something special for our community. Whether your child is brand new to the stage or already lives for the spotlight, I can’t wait to welcome them into this space where they can learn, grow, and shine.

With gratitude and so much excitement,

Academy Director, SGMT CenterStage
